An oh-so-sweet birthday treat
Is your child’s 1st birthday approaching? Celebrate their big milestone in the most enjoyable way by booking a Cake Smash!
During a Cake Smash, your baby will be sat in front of a delicious cake, and equipped with a wooden spoon. Then the fun ensues! The spontaneity of these sessions is what makes them so special; you never quite know how your little one will react, and their facial expressions of pure joy, surprise and delight make for the most epic photos.

So how does a Cake Smash session work? First off, I’ll take some pictures without the cake, so that you have some gorgeous, simple portrait photos of your baby before the messy part begins. Then they will be presented with the cake and you’ll see their eyes light up, as the Cake Smash is set up like a small birthday party just for them. This is the perfect time to capture their personality: will they cautiously have a taste of the frosting, or will they dive straight in?
After the smash, we do a ‘Splash’ with a small tin bath. This part usually gets huge smiles from baby as they splash all the water out the bath and enjoy creating a little bit of chaos!
At the end of the session, there is often still a lot of cake that hasn't been touched/smashed, so I invite you to take this home to enjoy over a cuppa whilst you relive the fun of the shoot.

When should I book a cake smash photoshoot?
It's best to book around your child's 9-10 month milestone, as my cake smashes are extremely popular and I can only book a limited number each month!
How do I book a cake smash?
To book your baby’s cake smash, simply fill out the contact form with a few details and I’ll get back to you by email within 48 hours with next steps
What should my baby wear to the cake smash?
Cake smashes generally need two outfits: one smarter option for the portraits, and something more casual and comfortable that you don’t mind getting a bit messy during the cake smash portion of the session. Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive a session guide to help you choose the best outfit options.
What do I need to a cake smash photoshoot?
Just yourself and your baby, plus a towel for after the ‘splash’ portion of the session! If you'd like to take the cake home with you afterwards, please bring a tupperware container or cake tin.
Can I take the cake home with me after the session?
One of the best parts for parents is that there is often still a lot of cake that hasn't been touched/smashed at the end of the session! I invite you to take this home to enjoy over a cuppa whilst you relive the fun of the shoot, just remember to bring a container or tin so you can transport it home safely.
How long does a cake smash session last and where is it held?
My cake smashes last around 60 minutes and will be held at my cosy home studio in Worcester Park, KT4. There is free parking on the driveway and a side gate providing easy access for prams and buggies. If you’re travelling by public transport, Worcester Park Station and bus stops (served by the 213, 151, SL7 and S3 routes) are a two minute walk away.
How many photos will we get from the session?
You’ll usually receive between 50-70 images to choose from in your online viewing gallery. I try to give you as many as possible from the session so that you can pick your favourites. If you love them all so much you can’t decide (yes, it’s a common problem!), you can purchase the entire gallery for a fixed price of £200 - decision made!
How long does it take to receive the gallery?
I edit all of your images myself to ensure your final images are pixel perfect. It usually takes between 7-10 days for your final edits to be ready and uploaded to your private digital gallery, but in busier seasons it can take up to 14 days.
Can I choose the theme for the cake smash?
Absolutely! I have 20+ different themed backdrops for you to choose from for the session. They vary in colour and style and once you're ready to book I will send over a guide with all the options you can choose from. I can also source custom backdrops if you have a different idea/theme to what I have available, this is charged from £30.
